Transportation to Campus

For students traveling by air: Benedictine College offers a $150 flight reimbursement for a student’s first visit to campus. Fly out to visit our campus, and we will cover your flight up to $150. Complete the Airfare Reimbursement Form after your visit day and upload your airfare receipt to request your reimbursement.

The $150 flight reimbursement is only available for airfare and is not offered for gas, lodging, food, or other miscellaneous expenses incurred while traveling to campus. Airline tickets secured through points or other airline incentive programs are not eligible for reimbursement.

For students traveling alone (seniors and transfer students only): Benedictine College coordinates transportation for students travelling without a parent or guardian using 5 Guys Transportation. Please provide us with your detailed flight information in advance so that we can coordinate with 5 Guys Transportation.

We strongly encourage flight arrival and departure times that fall between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. as arrival and departure times outside of these times create challenges for arranging transportation and overnight accommodations. If you are considering a flight outside of these times, please contact Traci Crowell, Campus Visit Coordinator, to confirm that ground transportation and overnight accommodations may be arranged.

For students traveling with a parent or guardian: Prospective students traveling with a parent or guardian are asked to secure their own transportation.

Arrival & Parking

Registered guests will receive a confirmation email with more information approximately 6 days prior to your visit.

Benedictine College is located at 1020 N. 2nd Street, Atchison, Kansas 66002. A brick sign with the name Benedictine College marks the entrance to the campus off 2nd Street.

Be aware that a section of Hwy 45 near Weston, Mo. will be closed beginning January 11, 2024. This cuts off an important access route to Benedictine College for those coming from Kansas City and other areas to the south along Interstate 29. Prior to your visit, review your route to campus through GPS and modify your travel time accordingly.  For those who are impacted, we anticipate the closure will add 20 minutes or more of travel time.  We strongly encourage you to have a GPS in your vehicle in the event you are rerouted while you are traveling.

The college is constructing a state-of-the-art library, limiting parking along the main drive through campus. Visitor parking is available in two locations:

1. Haverty Center Parking Lot

To access the Haverty Center lot: from 2nd Street, enter the main campus entrance and watch for signs to guide you to the small lot adjacent to the Haverty Center off the main campus drive.

2. Murphy Recreation Center Parking Lot

To access the Murphy Recreation Center lot: from 2nd Street, turn east onto Mound Street and follow the road to the top of the hill.

Please feel free to park in any available space.  A parking pass is not required for your visit.

Overnight Accommodations

View local lodging and accommodation options.

For certain visit days, seniors and transfer students may request to stay overnight on campus for one night with an Admission Office student host. Every effort will be made to accommodate overnight requests. We will notify you at check-in about the status of your overnight host accommodations, along with name and contact information of your overnight host. We ask that visiting students bring a blanket or sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and any personal toiletry items.

Dining

All meals for guests of the Office of Admission are complimentary during campus visits. Please note any dietary restrictions on your registration form. Our dining services are prepared to accommodate all dietary needs.
